Digby’s Menu
William Digby bought 84.23 acres along the Wabash on Christmas Eve 1824 for $231.24 at the federal Crawfordsville land sales, at 22. This was a substantial amount, and it was a long-rumored game of play. Born in 1802, this was the frontier and the rivers became the roadways for parents of little means. In one of Twainâ s accounts, Digby grew up working as a merchant in the waterways. The trade in the river did not represent the guys of the chorus. The fundamentals were gambling, fighting, and drinking, and he was outstanding at all, but Digby had also a vision, was loved and thought to be fair, honest, and a good man.
