West Bank Cafe Menu
West Bank Cafe opened in 1978. It was as “far-west” on 42nd Road as one would need to wander, at a time when Hell’s Kitchen lived up to its title. The restaurant’s early clients indeed included the infamous Irish group, the Westies. In 1980, The Unused York Times granted West Bank two stars, which expanded its perceivability and pulled in a more extensive run of burger joints. In her survey, Mimi Sheraton depicted the eatery as “a energetic, alluring [put] with…a number of uncommon dishes paramount for both creativity and excellence.” The first Mainland menu included dishes such as crudités and sole amandine—a window into the culinary times. In this time, West Bank Cafe’s proprietor, Steve Olsen opened the Laurie Beechman Theater first floor from the Cafe, which arranged plays and facilitated occasions daily. A youthful Lewis Dark was named playwright-in-residence; Howard Strict circulated his third-annual live birthday broadcast from the theater; and the restaurant’s regulars included Tennessee Williams,
