Santarpio’s Pizza is a pizzeria in the East Boston area of Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. It first opened its doors as a bakery in 1903. Three decades later, Frank Santarpio started selling pizza there. The cafe is most known for its Boston-style pizza, which it has served at its Chelsea Street location since 1933. It is both a landmark for residents and a magnet for visitors. According to one Boston Globe writer, “the ordinary New Englander’s sole awareness of East Boston is the sign for Santarpio’s Pizza that can be seen from the highway on the way to the airport.”
