History. F.J. (Joe) and R. L. Spillman, two Texas brothers, launched the first Pizza Inn in Dallas in 1958. In June 2011, Pizza Inn opened Pie Five Pizza on Fort Worth, Texas, a quick casual restaurant that specialised in customised pizzas produced in under five minutes. Frank and Dan Carney founded Pizza Hut in Wichita, Kansas, in 1958, then incorporated and launched their first franchise location in Topeka, Kansas, a year later. Two Texas brothers built the first Pizza Inn in Dallas in 1958, across from Southern Methodist University. Pizza Inn sites sprang up all throughout the Midwest as word of the restaurant’s excellent pizza and pleasant service spread.
