Papaya King Menu
Gus Poulos, a 16-year-old Greek teenager from Athens, landed at the Ellis Island docks in 1923. I’m on my own in a major metropolis. There are no pals. There is no family. There isn’t any money. Energized and ambitious. Gus jumped right into the Roaring Twenties and began his quest for the American Dream. Gus went from working in a deli in Manhattan’s Yorkville neighbourhood to owning it in three years.
Gus was finally able to take his first vacation after years of hard labour, and he chose the bright beaches of Cuba, where he fell in love with the abundant supply of papaya, the Aristocratic Melon of the Tropics.
