Ichi Ban Japanese & Sushi Menu
Ichiban is a Japanese word that means “first” and might allude to Ash’s song “Ichiban” from the A–Z Series.
We at Ichiban look forward to responding to changes and trends in the sushi world while honouring and upholding the cuisine’s standards and traditions, as well as its long history. Sushi made its way to the west at this time, with mentions in western literature reaching back to the late 1800s. Sushi may have initially grabbed the notice of the British after Crown Prince Akihito paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth II for her Coronation in 1953. Sushi, on the other hand, exploded in popularity in the United Kingdom in the 1990s, when restaurants sprung up all over the country and supermarkets began stocking ready-made sushi.
