History. George Katakalidis opened Daphne’s Greek Cafe in 1991. In January 2010, the chain declared bankruptcy. It has 60 sites in Arizona and California and was recently bought out of bankruptcy by a consortium of investors led by William Trefethen. Greek classics and healthy selections are served in a modern atmosphere with counter service.
Daphne’s 23 locations in California were purchased for an undisclosed fee by Elite Restaurant Group, a Los Angeles-based corporation that also operates Slater’s 50/50. Daphne’s was acquired up by investment organisations Wreath Equity and subsequently Victory Park Capital Advisors after it filed for bankruptcy.
